No Heat? Furnace won’t ignite? It might be a quick test and an easy fix.
In this episode of Repair and Replace, Vance shows how to troubleshoot and replace the hot surface ignitor in a gas furnace. If the furnace shuts off after a few seconds or if the burners don’t ignite, then the ignitor might have failed.
If the airflow inside the burner is good, then the ignitor will glow and will ignite the gas. If the ignitor fails, then the furnace might cycle on and off, and will not function properly. The ignitor can be easily tested for continuity before it is replaced.
